Chocolate mousse

Chocolate mousse or Mousse au chocolat is typical French dessert, that is easy to prepare and you will need only 5 ingredients.

You will need good quality chocolate to prepare delicious chocolate mousse.

People would be surprised to hear this, but chocolate mousse can last in the fridge for quite some time. You can easily keep it in the fridge for couple of days, or you can prepare before the weekend starts.

If you have a friend or family member who is allergic to gluten, this a perfect recipe you can prepare for them at home. Watch out for gluten hidden in a chocolate, you can easily buy GF alternative.

Mousse is type of dessert, which kids, chocoholics or your grandparents will enjoy.

 

You can alternate milk chocolate with dark chocolate.

 

Ingredients

200g milk chocolate

2 egg yolks

100g granulated sugar

5 egg whites

1 natural yogurt - 125g

 

Directions

1. Melt chocolate in water bath (see the tip how to melt a chocolate at the bottom of this recipe). Let cool down little bit - Chocolate should be warm, but not hot.

2. Beat egg yolks with sugar by hand.

3. Beat 5 egg whites with a mixer as soon on a picture.

4. Mix together egg whites and egg yolks mixture and yogurt. Mix gently.

5.  Add melted chocolate. Mix gently with spatula.

Leave to rest in the fridge for about 5 hours (minimum). Ideally leave the mousse in the fridge overnight.

You can put a mousse into pastry bag and split it equally into bowls. Decorate with chocolate chips, mint leaves or a fresh fruit. 

 

Tip: How to melt a chocolate in Bain Marie (water bath):  

         i.            Chop the chocolate.

       ii.            Place chocolate in heat-proof bowl.

     iii.            Place bowl over a saucepan of simmering water.

     iv.            Stir the chocolate. When you have just a few small not melted chunks, remove bowl from heat.
